George Steinbrenner didn't just love baseball, he loved horses too.

He was simply known as 'The Boss' in the world of major league baseball, but when he wasn't trying to guide the Yankees to a world series title, George Steinbrenner spent his time grooming his own horse racing operation on an 860 acre farm in Ocala, Florida known as Kinsman Stables.

No one knew this side of Steinbrenner better than Three Chimneys owner Robert Clay.

A number of horses were raised on his farm in Midway, including Majestic Warrior.

Steinbrenner won seven World Series titles with the Yankees, but never a Breeders Cup race or the Kentucky Derby, despite owning Bellamy Road, who was the favorite to win the 2005 Kentucky Derby.

Steinbrenner was a visitor to the Lexington area and to the horse sales around the bluegrass a lot.

As Robert Clay said, you never knew when he would show up, you just better be ready when he did.

Funeral arrangements for Steinbrenner have not yet been set.
