Soldier from Kentucky killed in Afghanistan

A soldier from Kentucky has been killed while serving in Afghanistan.

According to the Department of Defense, 20-year-old Private First Class Nathaniel Garvin, of Radcliff in Hardin County, died Monday of injuries suffered in a non-combat related incident.

He was assigned to the 96th Aviation Support Battalion, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade.

The Department of Defense says Pfc. Garvin entered the Army in August, 2008 and arrived at Fort Campbell in June, 2009.

Pfc. Garvin leaves behind a wife and daughter.

The Department of Defense says a memorial ceremony will be held in Afghanistan.
