Police say children were left in hot car while mother was shoplifting

Investigators say a baby was left in a hot car while his mother was shoplifting. The baby is now recovering.

It happened Friday night at the Whitesburg Food City in Letcher County.

Police say a seven-year-old, a six-year-old, and a two-month-old baby were left in a car for half an hour before their mom was caught shoplifting.

Detectives say the two-month-old was covered in a blanket and gasping for air when they got to him.

He was taken to the Whitesburg ARH, where he is in stable condition.

The mother, Purlina Gibson, is in jail on several charges.
