Today, the department of criminal justice will pay tribute to fallen officers, with an all new memorial.

35 Kentucky officers killed in the line of duty will be honored at the annual Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony in Richmond.

Three of the names added will be officers killed in 2006.

One of those is former Carter County Constable Elmer Kiser, who was found injured in the middle of a road. Another is Kentucky State Trooper Jonathan Leonard, who died from injuries he sustained in an accident in Pike County. Officer David Whitson was shot and killed during a struggle with a suspect. He was killed by friendly fire.

Today and tomorrow, the department will also host symposiums focusing on law enforcement in the next ten years.
