Downtown Lexington Parking Garage Shut Down

A Lexington parking garage is closed, more than a month after concrete fell from it.

A softball sized chunk broke off the the Urban County government Center's parking garage on August 15th.

A section was closed as a precaution while inspectors took a closer look. Late Wednesday city officials said those tests showed the building was sound, but there was a chance more concrete could fall from it.

More than one hundred Urban County Government employees park in the garage. They will be relocated to other downtown parking spaces.
