Berea's proposed chicken ordinance takes a step forward

It looks like chickens may soon have their day in Madison County.

Nobody voiced opposition last night in Berea when the city's proposed chicken ordinance came up for discussion.

Raising poultry in the city limits has been banned since 1918, but several residents asked for a change so they could raise chickens and collect fresh eggs.

If the proposal is approved, residents will be able to have up to six chickens in their backyard.
