A major winter storm is on the way to the bluegrass state. Local high water issues are possible early Wednesday and that will be followed up by heavy snow and sleet. Significant accumulations are likely Wednesday night and Thursday.
Family members are remembering a woman and her granddaughter killed in a violent crash.
Lillian Michelle Clarke and 3-year-old Catherine Howard were killed when their car was hit from behind by a semi on I-75, just outside Knoxville.
The two were traveling in the car with three other people on their way to Lexington from Florida. Howard lived in Lexington but her grandparents had recently moved to Florida. They were planning to attend a family reunion and a church meeting while in town.
"Michelle's granddaughter was her heart and my heart goes out to her son who has to deal with his daughter and mother all at the same time," says family member Stephen Johnson.
Authorities say criminal charges are pending in the crash.
