Lexington Man Sentenced For Best Friend's Murder

Video will be available shortly

A Lexington man accused of killing his best friend will spend the next five years in prison.

A judge today sentenced Donovan Brown for the 2006 shooting death of Darrin Bates. Police say Brown pointed a gun at Bates and pulled the trigger on purpose.

Brown claims it was an accident and his family had hoped the court would see it the same way. Bates' mother refused to talk about the sentencing.

The judge said the court saw the shooting as a senseless crime rather than an accident.
