Funeral arrangements are now set for a bank president who died just days before his son's wedding.
The coroner says Fifth Third Bank President & CEO Sam Barnes died of a massive heart attack Tuesday.
He was on the beach at St. Simons Island, Georgia at the time.
His son's wedding is being held there this weekend.
Barnes' funeral will be Wednesday afternoon at noon at Calvary Baptist Church on East High Street in Lexington.
There will not be a visitation.
Fifth Third Bank released the following statement Thursday afternoon.
"Fifth Third's focus remains on supporting the Barnes family, its employees and valued customers during this trying time. We appreciate all the kind words of encouragement from the community and ask that your thoughts remain with the Barnes family.
Mr. Barnes built a strong local leadership team that will oversee operations in Central Kentucky.
Mike Ash of Lexington, Senior Vice President-Commercial Banker, will serve as acting president. Fifth Third is committed to building a better tomorrow for the Bluegrass as an engaged corporate citizen."
