Police standoff in Georgetown

A police standoff in Georgetown ended around 10:00 p.m. Friday, nearly 6 hours after it started.

Police evacuated more then two dozen people near the home in Wiliamsburg Lane in the Colony subdivision.

Georgetown Police say they were first called to the home for a domestic dispute. A man, identified by family as 33-year-old Mike Vest, barricaded himself inside with several weapons.

Family members say Vest and his wife have been going through a divorce and the two reportedly had some sort of altercation prior to the standoff.

Vest's brother in law says he was armed and says took dozens of anti-anxiety and anti-depressant medications namely, Xanax and Lexapro.

Vest was taken to Georgetown Community Hospital after the standoff ended.
