(Lancaster, KY) -- Garrard County Fiscal Court is expected to decide this week what course of action to take following a federal ruling regarding the Ten Commandments display at the local county courthouse.
Judge-Executive John Wilson told the Danville “Advocate Messenger” the fiscal court is considering its options following a ruling by U.S. District Judge Karl Forester. Forester’s September fifth decision said "a reasonable person would conclude the county's display has the effect of endorsing religion."
But, Forester stopped short of ruling the display is unconstitutional. Wilson told the newspaper whatever option they select they want to “assure it complies with the law." Francis Manion, an attorney who is representing Garrard Count, said a special meeting of the fiscal court likely will be called this week.
