BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - Assembly workers at the General Motors
plant in Bowling Green are picketing.
GM spokesman Dan Flores says the United Auto Workers launched a national strike against the company. It's the first nationwide strike during auto contract negotiations since 1976.
Workers walked off the job and began picketing outside GM plants after the UAW strike deadline passed.
UAW Local 2164 in Bowling Green represents 960 workers at the assembly plant in south-central Kentucky where Corvettes and Cadillac XLRs are produced.
