Man found engulfed in flames

A bizarre scene outside a Kentucky hotel, after a man shows up in the parking lot engulfed in flames.

He was found behind the Holiday Inn Express, off I-75 exit 25, in Corbin around 4 a.m.

The victim, Kenneth Patrick Turvey, wasn't staying at the hotel, but a hotel employee tells 27 NEWSFIRST he helped put the fire out.

Paramedics first wanted to fly Turvey to UK Hospital but couldn't because of dense fog.

After being taken to the hospital in Corbin, paramedics were eventually able to airlift him to Lexington for treatment.

Police say he had burns covering 99% of his body.

Witnesses say Turvey was seen filling up some gas cans before the incident.

We are told Turvey is from Missouri.

Late Friday afternoon, police say the fire was the result of a suicide attempt.
