Pedestrian injured by hit and run driver

A man is in the hospital, recovering from injuries he suffered due to a hit and run driver.

Witnesses tell 27 NEWSFIRST the man appeared to be pushing a bicycle along U.S. 27 in Lincoln County late Thursday night when he was side swiped by a car.

The road was then closed so a helicopter could land to fly the man to U.K. Hospital.

The crash happened near Rankin Road.

That is near the same spot where John and Lavada Rowland were killed earlier in July.

Police are still awaiting toxicology tests on the man accused of causing that crash.

The man injured in Thursday's crash, Roy Pike, is expected to recover.

Investigators say Pike didn't get a good look at the car responsible.
