Severe thunderstorms have developed across parts of Central Kentucky. Expect more of these to develop through the evening hours.
Brandi and Reuben Abney just married Saturday in Rockcastle County, on what was supposed to be the happiest day of their lives.
While the newlyweds were taking pictures in the church, the guests in the reception hall say Margaret Campbell arrived uninvited. The Abney's wedding gifts were sitting on a table when guests say they noticed the uninvited stranger rummaging through them.
"I was in line for cake and ice cream and the woman said some woman ran out with cards," says Darvel Rader, a guest at the wedding.
Rader says that's when he ran after Campbell, first to the parking lot and then through homes and yards.
"I was wearing dress shoes and kicked them off," says Rader. "I was like woman, I don't know who you are or what you're doing, but you have no business coming into a church, a wedding to take gifts.
By the time he caught up to her, Rader says Campbell sprayed him in the face with pepper spray.
Other guests eventually caught up to Campbell and waited for police to arrive and arrest her, while Rader was taken to the hospital.
All the gifts returned to the newlyweds.
"We're really blessed for good friends and family," says Brandi Abney.
We're told law enforcement agencies are still looking for the getaway car.
Campbell has been arrested for multiple charges. She is due in court August 9.
