A short break in Kentucky before next winter storm

After a round of snow moved into central and northern KY on Friday the snow is still on the ground due to temperatures staying below freezing. Sunday expect chilly temperatures and cloudy skies with skies slowly clearing through the day. We will stay below freezing again today with a high of only 29. Tonight look for a few breaks in the clouds with a low of 23. New Year's Eve we'll be getting ready for another winter storm to bring a wintry mix to snow. Monday afternoon temperatures will hover just above freezing and then fall changing precipitation to snow for parts of central and northern KY. It looks like once again southern KY a mostly rain event with a light snow briefly Monday night.

By New Year's Day we go back to a rain/snow mix as temperatures rise a couple degrees above freezing in the afternoon. Some very cold air looks to blow in for the end of the week with more snow in the forecast
