Old man winter returns to the bluegrass state in a big way. A powerful cold front is crossing the state this evening and will deliver a massive temperature drop that will include some light snow.
Our readings will drop some 40 degrees through tonight with most areas below freezing by Tuesday morning. Gusty showers and thunderstorms will change to light snow as the cold air swings in.
Light accumulations will be possible early Tuesday with a few flurries and snow showers lingering into early afternoon. Highs will struggle to get much past 40 degrees. Gusty winds will make it feel much colder than that.
This will set the stage for a hard freeze Tuesday night. Temperatures will drop into the low and middle 20s and that means trouble for tender plants and vegetation.
