LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - An accident on a Lincoln County road caused some traffic issues during rush hour Tuesday morning.
According to officials the accident occurred around 8:40am about 4 miles south of Stanford on US 27.
Officials say a vehicle crossed the center line and struck a tractor-trailer, hitting the fuel tank and releasing between 75 and 100 gallons of diesel fuel on the roadway and shoulder.
The driver of the vehicle was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Hazmat is currently on the scene and is expected to be there for the next several hours while they work to clean up the diesel spill.
Both lanes are currently closed at the accident scene and traffic is being re-routed for about 3/4 of a mile, but officials say they expect to have one lane re-opened soon.
