Adair jail escapee arrested in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A jail escapee police have been tracking for more than a month and a half has finally been caught.

24-year-old Antonio Howard escaped from a jail in Adair County back in August and made his way to Lexington.
Last night after weeks of searching, police found him.

Police actually ended up catching and arresting Antonio Howard near the Shell Station on West New Circle while looking for a stolen car.

Howard and another man were charged with receiving stolen property. Howard was additionally charged with terroristic threatening and fleeing and evading police.

We spoke to his mother after his escape who told us he hitched a ride here, and made contact with the mother of his children.

According to an arrest warrant, Howard told his ex-girlfriend if he couldn't have her, no one could, and threatened to harm her.
Howard has been spotted by police since his escape. He was nearly caught on the north side of town off Newtown Pike about a month ago.
Along with his other charges, Howard also faces a second degree escape charge.

We spoke to Antonio Howard's mother earlier on the phone she said she's glad he was caught, because now he's off the streets and safe.
