Argument turns deadly in Taylor County

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - One man is dead and another is in jail after an argument turned deadly in Taylor County.

The Taylor County Sheriff's Department responded to a reported shooting on Saloma Road in Campbellsville shortly after 9pm Friday night.

When they arrived on the scene they found 60-year-old Orvey Carl Harris had been fatally shot in the chest.

After an investigation the Sheriff's Department concluded that 56-year-old Richard Riggs had been fighting with Harris. During their argument Riggs had shot Harris in the chest and fled the scene.

Riggs was taken into custody without incident and is charged with Murder. He is currently being lodged at the Taylor County Detention Center.
