ANDERSON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A school district continues to deal with an outbreak of whooping cough.

The Anderson County Schools Superintendent says one child in a third grade class at Saffell Street Elementary has come down with the illness.

The district says it also had four confirmed cases in a fifth grade class at Emma B. Ward elementary last week.

Parents at Saffell Street Elementary have been notified by letters. Parents with children considered to have close contact with the sick student have been notified by phone.

The health department has announced it will provide whooping cough vaccines for $5 for adults and children 11 years of age and older to try and stop the spread.
