ANDERSON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Timothy Branson entered an Alford plea in the March of 2012 death of his wife.
Police say Branson shot and killed 50-year-old Modena Sutton Branson at her Anderson County home. While Timothy Branson did not admit guilt in the case on Monday morning, he did agree that there was enough evidence against him to warrant a conviction.
"I believe that he got off very light for what he did to my sister," said Dawn Catlett, Sutton's sister, outside the courtroom. She continued and pointed at a poster board containing several pictures, "This is my sister, this is her last birthday that we got to spend with her, because he decided that she didn't need to live anymore. But for thirteen years, he'll be sitting there thinking about that. And I hope when he comes up for parole, that they deny him. And we will be there to represent."
Branson was indicted on a murder charge, but the charges were amended for the plea deal. The plea calls for a 15 year sentence for 1st degree manslaughter and five years for the wanton endangerment charges.
Formal sentencing is set for August 5th.
