Heavy snow continues to increase across the region. Snowfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour are likely this evening and tonight. More than a foot of snow may fall by Thursday morning.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT)- They're a smaller rescue organization with big success. Members of Kentucky Save brought their foster animals to the Petsmart in Hamburg for a special adoptions event.
"We get animals off the euth list which means they'll be put down any day," Ellen Banks said. "Then we get them adopted. If they don't get adopted, we take them back home and wait till the next time."
Rescuing hundreds of animals a year, Kentucky Save works with shelters throughout the state to try and save as many animals as they can. They also rely upon volunteers to sponsor or keep the animals until a forever home is found.
"We get so excited; it's tears of joy. We get to know the animals and get attached. We know what they've been through," Banks said.
"There are so many that need good homes," Barbara Vance, who was looking at adopting a dog, said.
Vance says she has been looking at the Kentucky Save website and knew today she'd be taking someone home.
Volunteers say right now, they're out of room and desperate for these animals to find good homes fast so they can continue they're mission.
"Please, please adopt."
