Another suspicious fire at Lexington apartment complex

Updated: Thu 12:04 AM, Jan 12, 2012

It appears police aren't any closer to finding a serial arsonist, who is targeting a Lexington neighborhood.

Firefighters were called back to the Preakness Apartments, near Hill Rise Drive, for another fire late Tuesday night, only hours after someone was taken into custody for one fire at the complex.

Ten suspicious fires have been set at or around the complex since late December.

Late Tuesday, firefighters say someone set two lint traps inside dryers in a basement laundry room on fire.

Firefighters say this latest fire caused minor damage because someone spotted it quickly and called 911.

Earlier Tuesday, police took a man into custody who investigators say set a fire in his own apartment.

That man spent the night in jail on an unrelated warrant.

He hasn't been charged with arson yet and police haven't released his name.

Investigators and the apartment complex are now offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the cases.
