FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - It started as an argument between two lovers but police say it ended in murder.
Frankfort Police have charged 41-year-old Brian Reed with murder.
They say the victim was found dead Friday morning in her apartment on Ewing Court in Frankfort.
Those who knew 28-year-old Gypsy Reyes say her on-again off-again relationship with her boyfriend, Brian Reed, was tumultuous to say the least. And early Friday morning, the couple's fighting turned fatal.
“I’m the security of the building and it breaks my heart that I didn’t hear anything and wasn’t able to be there for her. It’s going to bother me for a while,” said Mark Paris, Reyes’s neighbor.
It was around 11 a.m. Friday morning when Frankfort Police found Reyes on the floor of her apartment with her body showing signs of blunt force trauma.
Just a few hours later her boyfriend, Brian Reed, was arrested and charged with her murder.
Now, some friends and neighbors are left wondering if a late night phone call made by Reyes was actually a cry for help.
“She called our phone around 1:30 last night and we were asleep but I wish I would have been there to answer it, I wish I would have known to help,” said Christopher Isaacs, Reyes’s friend.
But for the time being, they're still trying to come to terms with something so tragic and remember her as a loving mother and a loyal friend.
“She’s a good girl, always talking, I saw her every morning taking her kids to school,” Paris told us.
“She was outgoing, very sweet, very kind and she loved her kids,” said Stephanie Miller, Reyes’s friend who lived across the street.
Frankfort Police tell us Reyes’s two daughters were not home at the time of the incident.
Brian Reed is being held in the Franklin County Regional Jail without bond.
