Arrest made in Jackson County murder

JACKSON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT/WYMT) - Kentucky State Police have made an arrest in a Jackson County murder.

Around 1am Saturday morning police arrested 33-year-old Nolan Wesley Rose Jr. Rose is charged with the murder of 56-year-old Gary Mullins. Mullins was found inside his home on Clements Road on Friday afternoon when troopers responded to conduct a welfare check. Family members requested the check after not hearing from Mullins for some time.

Mullins was taken to the State Medical Examiners Office in Frankfort for an autopsy.

Initial investigations on the scene revealed that Mullins had suffered a gunshot wound. Police have not yet released a motive in the incident.

Rose is charged with Murder and is currently lodged at the Jackson County Detention Center.
