KNOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) – State police have made an arrest in the death of a Knott county man.

Kentucky State police have arrested 34-year-old Jerry B. Combs of Wayland, Kentucky in connection with the murder of 30-year-old Eric Tysen Fugate.

Police found Fugate’s body Friday morning, near a surface mining road in the Triplett Branch community of Knott County after being receiving a call about an abandoned truck.

Police say Fugate had been reported missing less than 24 hours before his body was found.

Kentucky State say they were able to determine that Combs and Fugate had been in a fight prior to his death.

Combs has been charged with murder and is currently being lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail in Hazard, Kentucky.

An autopsy will be performed at the Kentucky State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort and a final cause of death is pending.

Kentucky State police are still investigating the incident.
