Ashland, state name 24 Teacher Achievement winners

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Two dozen Kentucky teachers are being honored by the state Education Department and Ashland Inc. and will compete for Teacher of the Year.

The teachers are receiving the 2013 Ashland Inc. Teacher Achievement Awards at a ceremony Oct. 17 in Frankfort, where the Teacher of the Year will be announced. That person will then go on to represent the state in the national competition.

The 24 teachers come from across the state, with three from Jefferson County; two each from Daviess, Fayette, Floyd and Shelby counties; and one each from Clay County, Corbin Independent, Franklin County, Hardin County, Kenton County, McCracken County, Madison County, Menifee County, Muhlenberg County, Oldham County, Paducah Independent, Robertson County and Rowan County.
