Employee foils attempted gas theft

Updated: Wed 8:22 AM, Aug 01, 2012

For the second time in one week, Lexington police are looking for someone who tried to steal gas from vehicles.

The latest theft attempt happened early Wednesday morning at KOI Auto Parts on Westhampton Drive, off Leestown Road.

The manager there tells WKYT an employee saw someone tampering with one of their work vans and chased them away. The would-be thief left behind three gas cans.

On Tuesday, police responded to a similar call at the American Red Cross office on Newtown Pike. There the crook was also chased off by an employee.
