Attorneys argue constitutionality of redistricting

Franklin County Circuit Judge Phillip Shepherd had issued a temporary restraining order last week that pushed the filing deadline to the close of business on Tuesday.

Now, attorneys for lawmakers who were negatively affected in a contentious redistricting battle are asking for an injunction that would keep things on hold until the constitutionality issue is decided.

Kentucky's Democratic-controlled House approved a redistricting plan that pits Republican against Republican in a handful of legislative districts. Meanwhile, the Republican-dominated Senate adopted a plan that pits Democrats against Democrats.
