Authorities issue citations for underage drinking

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Agents from the Kentucky Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control are reporting numerous citations issued to underage drinkers in Lexington during Saturday's football game between the University of Kentucky and Western Kentucky University.

In all, 61 minors were cited for possessing alcoholic beverages. Three were charged with assisting minors in purchasing alcoholic beverages.

Agency Director Mike Razor praised his staffers for helping to curb underage drinking. He said targeting enforcement around events like the football game help deter underage drinkers from seeking alcoholic beverages.

Similar crackdowns have been held at horse races, fairs and festivals around the state.
