KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Health officials in one Kentucky city say it's time to ban smoking in public there.
The Knox County Health Department is now pushing for a smoking ban for the city of Barbourville. Health leaders say recent studies showed unhealthy indoor air quality levels in parts of the city because of secondhand smoke.
"If it's preventable, we need to make a stand and do something about it to make our work places smoke free," Susan Liford, with the Knox County Health Department tells us.
The Barbourville City Clerk says so far, the city council has not taken any action on the proposed ban or even placed it on an agenda.
