Barricade situation ends; no one found inside home

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A barricade situation closed down a Lexington neighborhood for much of Thursday afternoon.

The barricade situation took place on Osage Court, off Woodhill Drive.

Police say it began when one driver hit another, showed off his rifle, and took off. We're told the victim of the hit and run followed the suspect. Police say the suspect got to a home on Osage Court, and ran inside.

Due to the barricade situation, buses were not allowed into the Woodhill neighborhood. Students from Breckinridge Elementary, Edith J. Hayes Middle and Crawford Middle had to be held at school and picked up by their parents.

Officers entered the home around 6:00 p.m. We're told they didn't find anyone inside, but they did find the rifle.

They're now searching the neighborhood. They tell us they only have a vague description of the suspect, but a good idea of who the man may be. They won't release his name until an arrest is made.

"Because the residences are adjoining we searched the adjoining residences as well. We're confident he's no longer in the area. We have some information as to who that might be and we'll be following up on that," explained Lexington Police Lieutenant Scott Blakely.
