Battle for Ohio's electoral votes long, intense

CINCINNATI (AP) - When it comes to presidential politics, Ohio has become the king of swing.

The fight for the national political battleground is an expensive one. With more than a month left before the election, the two presidential campaigns and outside supporters already have spent more than $110 million on TV advertising in Ohio. That's about a sixth of all national spending to that point.

President Barack Obama has been to Ohio this year more times than any other state except Virginia. Mitt Romney has been here even more, counting his time campaigning for the Ohio Republican primary in March. Their running mates have also made frequent visits.

No Republican has won the White House without carrying Ohio, and the last president elected without winning Ohio was Democrat John Kennedy in 1960.
