LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - With the campaign commercials already airing and the national spotlight turning to Kentucky’s senate seat, the first Bluegrass Poll will be released Thursday evening.
WKYT and its newspaper partner The Herald-Leader joined forces with The Courier-Journal and WHAS-TV in Louisville for the series of six polls throughout this election year.
By WKYT and The Herald-Leader combining resources with the Louisville media outlets, the polls will be more frequent and in-depth to better gain insight into the campaigns and issues facing Kentuckians.
WKYT political editor and anchor Bill Bryant will unveil the results and offer his unique analysis beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday on WKYT News and on wkyt.com.
Republican heavyweight and longtime Senator Mitch McConnell is in a fight to keep his seat in the Senate. If he survives the primary battle with GOP challenger Matt Bevin, he would face Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes. At 6 p.m. Thursday, WKYT’s Bill Bryant will reveal who’s in the lead. We will also get a report card on McConnell, the candidates wanting his job, and Senator Rand Paul.
In the following days, WKYT will also highlight results on a range of issues that include same sex marriage, a statewide smoking ban, raising the minimum wage and the job performances of President Barack Obama and Gov. Steve Beshear.
In addition to coverage on WKYT and wkyt.com, The Herald-Leader will offer extensive coverage and analysis in its print edition and on Kentucky.com.
