Baye to speak on 'Unsung Women in Civil Rights'

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A Louisville author will speak on "Unsung Women in the Civil Rights Movement" at a lecture next week at the University of Louisville.

Betty Baye teaches "Women in the Civil Rights Movement" at Bellarmine University, where she is an adjunct professor. She will speak Tuesday during an event that runs from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. EST in Ekstrom Library's Chao Auditorium.

Baye is author of "The Africans" and "Blackbird," a collection of her columns in The Courier-Journal, where she was a reporter, editor and columnist from 1984 to 2011. She was also a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University in 1990-91 and was inducted into the National Association of Black Journalists' Hall of Fame this month.
