A community will be coming together to celebrate the life of a Kentucky teenager, who committed suicide and to raise awareness about the issue.
Sixteen-year-old, Stuart Shields took his life in September. He was a sophomore at Tates Creek High School in Lexington.
Neighbors of the Shields family have organized an event to honor the Lexington teen. It will be held this Saturday in the Meadow Creek Neighborhood.
The event is going on from 3 to 7 o'clock.
There will be several food vendors, live music, inflatables, and games.
In addition to the entertainment, Dr. Hatim Omar, Director of Adolescent Medicine at Kentucky Children's Hospital will be there.
Dr. Omar is physician on teen suicide awareness and has traveled to 30 countries to share his knowledge.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children under twelve years old. Tates Creek students can get in for $7.
The money raised at the event will go towards raising awareness of teen suicide in Lexington and to a Lacrosse Scholarship Fund.
Friends tell us that Stuart played lacrosse.
