MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Berea police are issuing an alert after a recent spike in home burglaries.
Investigators say they've seen an increase in break-ins during the last couple of weeks, and in most cases the home owners were out of town.
Police are encouraging people who live in Berea to let them know when they will be out of town to allow officers to up patrols around their homes.
"If we see something that doesn't appear to be correct, if somebody is there when they shouldn't be there then we'll know, and if a burglary or theft does happen them we'll have your contact information while you're out of town," said Sgt. Jake Reed.
Berea Police have an on-line form residents can fill out. You can find a link to the form on the right hand side of this page.
Police say you can also call them at 859-986-8456.
