Big Blue Crush blood drive underway

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The teams will meet on the football field later this month, but this week, UK and Tennessee fans are in a competition that will help save lives.

The annual Big Blue Crush blood drive kicked off Monday, and continues through Friday.

UK fans can donate blood at Kentucky Blood Center locations in Lexington, Pikeville, and Somerset.

After the first day, we're told Kentucky donors lead, but only by a four pint margin.

The Kentucky Blood Center hopes 3,500 Kentuckians will give blood during this year's Big Blue Crush.

Kentucky has won the "Crush" trophy the last two years.
