Bill filed in honor of slain Bardstown officer

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (WKYT) - A Kentucky lawmaker has filed a bill in honor of a Bardstown Police Officer killed in the line of duty.

Officer Jason Ellis was ambushed last May along the Blue Grass Parkway. Police have not made any arrests in the murder.

Tuesday Bardstown representative David Floyd filed the "Officer Jason Ellis Memorial Act." If approved, the bill would set the minimum penalty for anyone convicted in the murder of a law enforcement officer to life without parole.

House Bill 368 will be considered during the 2014 Regular Session of the Kentucky General Assembly.
