MANCHESTER, Ky. (WYMT) - One health department serving four counties in eastern Kentucky held a special called meeting Thursday night to discuss personnel matters following discrepancies in oversight and spending found in a state audit.

All but two board officials at the Cumberland Valley District Health Department meeting voted to remove and terminate Director Kathy Fields. Fields and the board's attorney, Jeff Walther, did not want to comment about the situation. The interim director said they are looking toward the future.

"Our focus most certainly is going to be on the services we provide to our community, protecting the health and safety of our community. and that is in the clinics, community, home, and in the schools," said Interim Director Lynnett Renner.

Renner said she was unable to comment on the action taken by the board at the meeting.

The next regularly scheduled meeting will be on Dec. 6.
