Body found along highway identified as missing Johnson County woman

KNOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A badly burned body found in a wooded area along an eastern Kentucky highway has been identified as a missing Johnson County woman.

Friends and family found the body of Christina Barnett Wednesday afternoon while searching for her along Highway 80 in Knott County.

Barnett was last seen September 18 in Hazard.

The Knott County Coroner says the state medical examiner positively identified the body as Barnett during an autopsy on Thursday.

The coroner says investigators believe her body had been at the scene for about a week.

The coroner says no cause of death has been determined yet.
