Woman dies after car plunges into creek

Officials with the Breathitt County Sheriff's Office say Elizabeth Roark was driving on Highway 30, on her way to babysit one of her great-grandchildren, when she hit black ice. The accident happened near Carpenter's Branch, east of Jackson, near the community of Noctor.

Roark lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road. The car hit a tree and plunged into a creek.

We're told family members went looking for Roark's car after she didn't show up this morning to babysit the child. A family member found what appeared to be a crash scene and called police. Officers used an infrared camera to find the vehicle in the water.
