Boil water advisory issued after main breaks

Posted: Thu 4:03 PM, Oct 18, 2012

PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) - Some residents in the western part of Paducah were still boiling drinking water after a water main break.

According to The Paducah Sun (http://bit.ly/Qw4kzV ), a basketball-size hole developed in a 12-inch diameter iron water main near the Kentucky Oaks Mall.

It wasn't clear when the breach occurred, but it was found and patched Wednesday morning. Paducah Water urged customers downstream of the break to boil water for at least three minutes, if it was to be used for drinking or cooking.

The utility planned to test bacteria levels at midmorning Thursday before withdrawing the advisory.
