BOYLE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - An unusual knock at the door raised the suspicions of a Boyle County woman yesterday.
"I normally don't go to the door unless I'm expecting someone," she said.
The woman, who wants to remain anonymous, says she knew immediately she was dealing with a burglar.
"They finally tapped on the window and by that time I was dialing 911
After that I heard the garage door open," she said.
The homeowner says the alleged burglars picked the wrong house. She pulled out something she says they weren't expecting.
"I immediately got my gun," she said.
She says a woman came out of her garage while a man sat in a car in the driveway. She pointed the Smith & Wesson revolver at the woman.
"She just kept saying, "We're not here to rob you! We're not here to rob you! We're not here to break in! I think they were here to enter my property and steal what they could," said the homeowner.
She says she held the woman at gunpoint for about 10 minutes while she was on the phone with dispatch. Eventually, though, she says the woman got into the car with the man and the two made a run for it. A neighbor tried to follow the car, but it got away. She's got a warning for anyone else thinking of breaking into a home.
"Think twice or more because it's just not a safe environment. There's nothing inside that's worth losing your life over," she said.
When asked what it would have taken for her to pull the trigger, the woman said, "A couple of more steps toward me,"
The Boyle County sheriff says his deputies are looking for a white man and white woman in a maroon, 80s model Nissan with a partial tag of 294.
