British helicopter crashes, killing 5 NATO troops

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - Britain says it was one of its helicopters that crashed today in southern Afghanistan, killing five NATO troops. The coalition says it's investigating the circumstances of the crash but had no reports of enemy activity in the area. The deaths bring the number of international troops killed this month to seven.

Also today, an Afghan university official identified the other two Americans killed in a shooting at a Kabul hospital earlier this week. The Kabul University vice chancellor says health clinic administrator Jon Gabel and his visiting father, Gary, were killed and Jon Gabel's wife was wounded in the attack that also killed pediatrician Jerry Umanos.
