LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Some central Kentucky children are learning about musical theatre, thanks to a special program.
The Broadway Buddies program is back at the Lexington Opera House. The children learn about theatre etiquette, and stage craft, and they get to take a backstage tour. They'll also get to see "The Miracle Worker" at The Opera House.
Over 100 Lexington kids and their chaperones are expected to attend. The Broadway Buddies program is designed to allow under-served youth, who otherwise might not have the opportunity, to experience the art and magic of professional live theater.
Kids are chosen to attend the program based on a scholarship. Scholarship recipients will be able to go behind the curtains and take a backstage tour of the Opera House. The kids will also be able to meet and talk with cast members of the live show.
The performance for Broadway Buddies is on Sunday.
