LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Former Bryan Station player Dermontti Dawson was back on the sidelines at his old high school Friday night.
Dawson, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and a former Wildcat, was honored before the Defenders hosted Lafayette, when the school retired his No. 75 jersey.
"Steve Parker was instrumental in getting me to come out and play football," Dawson said. Parker was Dawson's coach at Bryan Station.
"You just don't know where my career would have been, if I hadn't chosen to play football," he continued. "Being a hometown guy, and this being my alma mater, it's just a great honor."
After an illustrious career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dawson entered the Hall of Fame in 2012, having earned the title as one of the greatest centers ever to play.
