Building fire keeps residents out of apartments

Updated: Fri 7:50 PM, Jul 06, 2012

Several firefighters responded to help put out a fire at an apartment building. It happened Friday afternoon at the Grand Reserve Apartments on Clearwater Way in Lexington.

When the first fire crews arrived, they reported seeing smoke and flames coming from the building.

"The minute I opened my front door, smoke was just rolling.  And I run over and looked and could see that the smoke was coming out of three vents from the attic," explained neighbor Beverly Waucerman.

Fire crews were able to get the fire under control. They did not say how many units were damaged. No one was hurt.

Investigators believe the fire started in the attic of the building.

People in four apartments are being asked to stay somewhere else for the night.
