Burglar cuts through drywall to get into jewelry store

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - Investigators say a crook used an uncommon method to commit a burglary.

The break-in happened early Monday morning at The Castle in Nicholasville.

The Jessamine County Sheriff's Office tells WKYT the suspect first gained entry into a vacant store next to The Castle. He then cut a hole in the drywall that connects it to the castle.

Surveillance video shows the burglar go from case to case stealing an unknown amount of jewelry.

By the time authorities arrived, the burglar had left the scene.

"Typically, these types of crimes are fueled by drugs, more or less, people supporting their habit," said Deputy Larry Oliver with the Jessamine County Sheriff's Office. "We feel like this is going to be a continual type of thing, unless this person is caught ... desperate people do desperate things. We don't know who this individual is just yet, but obviously we need to get a hold of him so we can stop this pattern of behavior."

Investigators hope someone may have seen something. If you did, you're asked to call the Jessamine County Sheriff's Office at (859) 885-4139.
